Help for Grammy
By Nana Yaw Adu-Sarkodie · Illustrated by Sunil Francis
A gentle story to help children understand a grandparent who is changing.
About the book
Help for Grammy gently explores how a child experiences and understands a loved one's dementia. As Jaylen notices changes in Grammy, they are encouraged to ask questions and share their feelings. Through honesty, love and memory, dementia becomes less frightening and more manageable, showing children that care, connection and cherished moments still matter, even during change.

Why Dr. Yaw wrote this book
As a geriatrician, Dr. Yaw has spent nearly two decades helping families through the changes that come with aging, including memory loss. He saw how often children were left out of those conversations, unsure of what was happening to someone they loved. Help for Grammy gives families the words to talk about it together.
